Authority: Darlington County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 26, Article II, Division 2

Membership: Consists of 11 members appointed by County Council. The members shall be residents of the district and be a member of a volunteer fire department (one from each of the participating volunteer departments).

Term of Office: 4 Year Terms

Responsibilities: Recommend the purchase of firefighting equipment; recommend sites/places where firefighting equipment are kept; develop plans and recommendations for training volunteer firefighters; recommend and monitor standard operating procedures; recommend rules and regulations for use of equipment; recommend construction of buildings to house equipment; propose contracts or agreements with public or private agencies for improved services or financial aid subject to approval by county council; study, investigate, develop recommendations and report to county council matters concerning needs and problems affecting the fire control service, etc.

Meeting Schedule: 2nd Thursdays of every other month (beginning with February) at 7 p.m., 1625 Harry Byrd Hwy, Darlington, SC
